With some introduction to different foods from the teachers home countries, it has brought up some questions for the children too. We have been discussing foods that animals eat, foods that we eat, and now dipping our toes into foods that other countries eat.
These conversations have led to the children exploring their natural curiosity about where they are from;
“I’m from Argentina!” - L
“I was born in Toronto but my families Russian!” - M
“I’m from Port Moody!” - J
“I’m not Chinese, I’m from Costco!!” - HW
If you or your family has a traditional dish that you’d be open to sharing with the class, please email me and let me know!
Next Monday, Teacher Chris’s mom is going to come and teach us how to make zongzi! A traditional Chinese treat.
“We used to eat those in Singapore, but we don’t eat those in Canada now” - HK
