Oh what fun! The children loved the process of preparing the fruit salad today! Each child washed their hands first and then their fruit. They appeared excited about the ownership of their fruit and taking care of it. They seemed to understand the safety of using knives and the seriousness of the activity. During the cutting process the children were silent and focusing hard on the task at hand. Teachers assisted with how to hold the knife and keep the second hand safe. This activity helped the children to develop and strengthen their fine motor skills - a great pre writing activity! Some of the children snuck sneaky bites of the fruit throughout the process. Some of the comments were;

“I’ve never had dragon fruit before!”

“I loveeeee mango!!”

“My favourite fruit is pear”

“This apple is so strong”

“I can’t get past the seed”

“Can we plant this?”

“Wow so beautiful!”

We are looking forward to eating our salad in the afternoon.
