We bought water dispensers! We are constantly trying to brainstorm how we can help children with their self-help skills and independence. For safety reasons, our children cannot entire the kitchen without a teacher - so we purchased these water dispensers so children do not need to ask a teacher for help!

As we stood and watched the children figure out how to use the new machine, we identified so many ways that this task was encouraging life skills;

  • lifting the tap (fine motor skills - great for pre-writing development!)

  • Holding the bottle and lifting the tap (hand-eye coordination and a bit of physics!)

  • Filling up the bottle (science! How much is too much? What happens if you fill it up right to the brim? Does it feel heavy or light?)

  • Turn taking!

  • Teamwork (some friends worked together to fill their bottles, you hold and I’ll turn on the tap!)

  • & most of all HYDRATION! This tool helped children want to drink more water & on these hot and sunny days, that is super important!!
